Rage Against the Machine was one of the most well-known bands of the 90s, as their unique blending of hard rock, funk, and rap elements has helped them to sell millions of records, despite the lyrics having not-so-subtle messages that reject capitalism, racism, and those holding political office. These themes of going against the system are what has made Rage’s music so timeless, and especially in today’s society with the Trump administration, the Border Wall crisis, global warming, and tensions in the Middle East. So maybe that’s why the band recently announced their first world tour in more than a decade, the “Public Service Announcement” Tour.

This string of shows will begin with a March 26th El Paso, Texas gig and will wrap up on September 12th in Vienna, Austria. Joining Rage on tour as a supporting act will be rap duo Run the Jewels, in support of the ‘RTT4’ album that will be released this spring. The band will also be headlining some of the biggest music festivals of the year, as they will be performing at Coachella, Boston Calling, Reading and Leeds, and at Firefly, hosted here in Delaware.

Although many fans rejoiced at the tour’s announcement, many were displeased by the pricing of the tickets that were found on Ticketmaster before the official tickets were released this past Thursday. Fortunately, the band wasn’t either. In a statement that was released earlier this week, RATM announced that they would be “holding in reserve 10% of the seating (random seats throughout each venue) to sell at a higher ticket price (but low enough to undercut the scalpers). We will donate 100% OF THE MONEY over the base ticket price to charities and activist organizations IN EACH CITY.” In a time where many aspects of the world are corrupt, it’s bands like Rage Against the Machine that fans need now more than ever.
