Hurricane Ian made landfall at 3:00 on Wednesday afternoon. Ian reached wind speeds of 150 mph shortly after and was the fifth strongest hurricane in U.S. history. However, shortly after hitting the coastline of eastern Florida, the storm was downgraded from a category 4 hurricane to a tropical storm. Despite the demotion soon after making landfall, Hurricane Ian still left over 2.5 million Floridians without power on Thursday morning.
