U.S. Men’s Team Takes On England In One Of The Most Anticipated Matches Of The World Cup
November 25, 2022
The United States men’s national team looks to take on England in the second game of the group stage at the 2022 World Cup. After a disappointing tie against Wales earlier this week with goals from Tim Weah, off a ball from Christian Pulisic, early in the game and a devastating equalizer off a penalty late in the game from Wale’s Gareth Bale. England however came off a commanding 6-2 win over Iran. Although England is definitely the favorite in the matchup the U.S. certainly has a good chance. United States captain Tyler Adams said in an interview “we know how much quality England’s going to have. But again, we think that we match up well against them.”
This match will definitely play a large part in the fate of the men’s national team in Qatar. If the U.S. loses they will have to win against Iran and hope for a loss from Wales either against Iran or England. If that were to happen then they would have to hope for a better goal differential to put them over the top, and into the knowkout stage. Not only does the matchup have a lot of importance for the standing of the World Cup, it also an important matchup for the fans. England has come out on top in eight of the past eleven matchups between the two countries, and the matchup carries a lot of pride for the two countries. The U.S. hopes to make headlines at Al Bayt Stadium as they head in to perhaps the most anticipated game of the World Cup.
