On Friday, October 27, the “Spike For Life Tournament”will take place. The event consists of two teams competing in Spike Ball for prizes and to raise money for Cradle of Hope. Cradle of Hope is an organization that helps mothers who want to keep and take care of their babies rather than get an abortion.
The event is hosted and organized by the Salesian for Life Club directed by Mr. Lee and Ms. Correale.
The event will take place from 3:30-6:00 just before Salesianum hosts Middletown..
The President of Salesians For Life, Frank Miller, commented on the event.
“Well, first and foremost, we want everyone to have fun. Last year, a lot of kids had a blast. The winners were super enthusiastic about the prizes. They were super enthusiastic about helping out the organization. I want to raise, obviously, besides fun, the main objective is to raise some money for Cradle of Hope. It’s just a great organization that helps out families in need.”
Miller also stated that he has very high expectations for the club.
“We want to spread awareness about the prayer life argument let people know the reasons mainly behind our Christian belief of why life starts from conception and why life should be protected from conception onward. I think people are going to be more likely to join after the Spike for Life tournament just because even the people who might not be as inclined for the pro-life movement can agree that if a mother wants to have a child, she shouldn’t be forced to have an abortion. There should be resources out there to help them have the child if that’s what they want. I think everyone would be able to agree with that. That’s partly why we also chose the Cradle of Hope because we figured this… But not controversial
at all.”
“Are there any future events coming up that people could visit you? The March for Life is going to be later on in the year. I think Mrs. Correale, our club moderator, said that she was planning on taking a group of kids up to Washington, D. C. For the March for Life. That’ll be our next big event.”
“I think it’s very important to consider these questions. It’s something that’s been going on for a long time. As science becomes more developed, as we start to really think about the morality behind these things, I think a lot of new evidence is going to come to the table in support of the pro-life argument. With ultrasounds, you’ll see if a woman has an ultrasound before she has an abortion, she’s much less likely to actually go through the abortion saying that it’s a human being inside her, separate body, separate heart, separate mind, separate soul, different soul. I think the pro-life argument is definitely going to take off as technology advances because you’re going to be able to see the humanity of the person beside the mother. Other than that, I’d love people to come to support. I would encourage people not to be afraid of any agendas around the thing. Controversy is the thing, but you shouldn’t be afraid to step into it.”
Conclusion:
The Spike For Life Tournament is not the only event coming from Salesians For Life. In March there is the March For Life in Washington DC, if you have any questions about the event you can contact Ms. Correale.
