Salesianum School is making the holiday season a bit more merrier for eight grade students throughout the area. Salesianum has been sending out golden tubes to solidify the roles that the class of 2028 will play in the future of Salesianum. The contents of these tubes include an acceptance letter, along with an exclusive t-shirt, which features their graduation year. Whether they’ve gone to St. Edmonds, Immaculate Heart of Mary, or schools in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, most would argue that this has been a dream since elementary school.
The timing of acceptance letters coinciding with the holiday season creates an exciting and memorable experience. Many students will be just as excited about getting the golden tube, as they will when they unwrap the biggest gift under the tree. The high school years are crucial for personal and intellectual growth. The golden tube represents the first step in many young men’s futures.
This is also a very emotional time for the parents of the recipients as well. Parents have invested time, energy, and support into their son’s education. This moment acts as a culmination of these efforts. Many parents may be nervous awaiting the arrival of the tube. Once received, they become very proud of what their son has accomplished, and what he can accomplish in the coming years.
Many parents will spread the word in this holiday season by texting pictures and posting on social media. Because this is done in the holiday season, this can vastly strengthen family relationships when traditions and gatherings are abound. The golden tube can be a symbol of unity. It can spark conversations about one’s future plans, aspirations, and goals.
With 8th graders looking towards graduating from middle school, the golden tubes allow them to start with a fresh beginning. The holiday timing of the tubes can create positivity and hope for a lot of students.
The golden tubes can help transform an already joyous holiday season into one of educational hope and optimism. As a member of the class of 2025, I know that my signed letter from Father Beretta is still magnetized to the side of my refrigerator. I look at it often to remind myself of Salesianum’s motto, “Be who you are, and be that well”. I hope many incoming freshmen remember these words because they resonate with me. Here’s to a Happy New Year and a successful 2024 to all in the Salesman community.
