Recently, The Salesianum School Theater (SST) entertained many with their winter production, Into The Woods. An accumulation of months of work, this show followed a cast of over twenty Salesianum, Padua, and Ursuline students as well as many more in the orchestra pit and behind the lights and sounds.

The crew performed six main shows as well as many performances solely for students from local schools such as Warner and Saint Edmond’s Academy. This musical was the second out of three yearly shows following the theme of “exploring the unknown” similar to the Odyssey.

Written in 1987 by Stephen Sondheim, Into The Woods intertwines popular fairy tales such as Jack and the beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel into a fresh new fairytale where they must overcome challenges and find a happy ending. The SST is now moving onto their next show, The Tempest by William Shakespeare. Jack Cunningham 26’ (a well seasoned SST cast member) describes his experience portraying Cinderella’s Father and working on the musical: “Into the Woods provided me with an opportunity to hone my skills in advanced acting and singing techniques as well as taught me the skills to collaborate with student participants and professionals as we worked to produce the best show possible.”
